Our Creations

Hope, Buyisile and Faith The name Shwe Shwe Poppis originated from our ethos of celebrating local culture - Shwe Shwe is a style of patterned fabric with a long tradition amongst the indigenous people of South Africa, while a Poppi is a colloquial term for a doll or soft toy.

From the original children's drawings, a range of 8 different fantasy characters has been created, and are sewn by hand by our team of artists. These 8 characters are easily recognizable - they have their own fun personalities, and bear the names of their young creators:

Buyisile, Faith, Hope, Khutha, Nozipho, Philisiwe, Siyanda and Thobi.

The members of the Shwe Shwe Poppis Family are available in three sizes - Mini, Midi and Maxi - with a host of uses and colour options.

Each Poppi comes branded with either a swing ticket which tells our story, a fabric label with wash care instructions and disclaimers, or both, depending on the size.
